The moment you’ve all been waiting for is finally coming.

After a cheeky early morning tease, the Bengals announced they will be changing uniforms. The new threads will be revealed this upcoming spring.

The timing of this feels right. Drafting Joe Burrow first-overall last year officially sparked a new era of Bengals football in a fresh new decade. 2020 unfortunately became somewhat of a lost year, so 2021 is basically the real start of the 2020s, as everyone can probably agree.

Cincinnati have been rocking the same designs since 2004, when they last overhauled their uniforms. Minor changes were made when official NFL apparel changed from Reebok to Nike in 2012 and in 2017 when most clubs adopted the new jersey collar, but the base for the uniforms has been the same for 17 seasons in Cincinnati. No other uniforms in franchise history had a longer lifespan.

In 2016, the Bengals unleashed their white and black Color Rush uniform and that has become the arguably the most popular jersey for fans. Expect one of the new uniforms to feature the same or at least very similar design and color scheme as the original Color Rush threads.

Also, if they’ve been listening, expect the white panel down the side of the jerseys to be gone. And the helmet to be the same. Never change the helmet.

Springtime can’t come soon enough.
