Bengals draft OT, pass on Penei Sewell in NFL.com mock draft

The Bengals go tackle, but not with Penei Sewell according to Daniel Jeremiah.

It’s mock draft time in the NFL, and we already have one that will make some Bengals fans mad.

In his latest mock draft on NFL.com, Daniel Jeremiah predicts the Bengals will take a tackle, but not Penei Sewell from the Oregon Ducks.

Instead, Jeremiah has the Bengals picking Rashawn Slater from Northwestern with the fifth overall pick.

Florida TE Kyle Pitts would be tempting right here,” Jeremiah says, “but the Bengals must address the offensive line. Slater has five-position flexibility and his tape is outstanding.”

In Jeremiah’s mock draft, Sewell goes to the Cowboys at tenth overall.

“Sewell could go as high as No. 3 overall to the Dolphins,” he admits but believes the Bengals will choose Slater over Sewell.

For the Dolphins at third overall, Jeremiah gave them LSU Tigers wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase. He is one that many Bengals fans have their eye on, but Jeremiah thinks he will be off the board.

Another wide receiver option could be Devonta Smith, who is taken by the Lions with the seventh overall pick in this mock. Smith’s college teammate, WR Jalen Waddle goes No. 11 to the Giants.

Jeremiah briefly implied that Kyle Pitts could go to the Bengals, though in his mock the 49ers take him at No. 12.

Other than Chase, three of the four teams in front of the Bengals picked quarterbacks in this mock draft. It’s very possible that the Bengals could have their pick of whichever player they want that doesn’t play quarterback.

Or, if they like Sewell, they could probably find someone who wants to move up a few spots and make a trade.
