With the regular season now over, NFL teams can begin signing players to futures contracts as they fill out their offseason 90-man rosters.
The Cincinnati Bengals today signed 10 players to futures contracts, including:
—DT Freedom Akinmoladun
—LS Dan Godsil
—S Trayvon Henderson
—WR Trenton Irwin
—LB Keandre Jones
—CB Donnie Lewis
—HB Jacques Patrick
—CB Winston Rose
—QB Kyle Shurmur
—WR Scotty Washington
They will not count on the team’s active list until Feb. 8, the Monday after the Super Bowl. All 10 players finished the season on the team’s practice squad. Several of these guys, including Winston Rose and Freedom Akinmoladun, spent time on the active roster this season, though it was usually just to be activated to the gameday roster before reverting back to the practice squad the following day.
Expect more signings to be announced in the coming weeks, though they won’t get to 90 anytime soon as they keep spots open for the official start of NFL free agency on March 17th, as well as the 2021 NFL Draft on April 29th.
