The Cincinnati Bengals have placed cornerback Trae Waynes on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

The team has also signed cornerback Holton Hill and running back Elijah Holyfield to the practice squad while cutting punter Drue Chrisman from it. You can read more about Holyfield here.

Hill, a 6-foot-2, 196-pound product of Texas, was originally a college free agent signee of the Minnesota Vikings in 2018. He spent his first three seasons (2018-20) with the Vikings, then spent time briefly with the Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys this year. He has played in 28 career games with 69 tackles, a sack, an interception, 11 pass deflections and a fumble recovery.

Holyfield, weighing in at 5-foot-10 and 215 pounds, is a first-year player out of Georgia who was originally a college free agent signee of the Carolina Panthers in 2019. He has spent time with both Carolina and Philadelphia, and played in one game with the Eagles (no statistics).

Waynes, a seventh-year player, suffered a right hamstring injury in Sunday’s game vs. the Green Bay Packers. He’s played in two games this season with five tackles. By landing on IR, Waynes will now be out at least three weeks, and the earliest he can return is Week 9 vs. the Cleveland Browns.

Chrisman, a rookie out of Ohio State University, was a college free agent signee of the Bengals in May who has already been signed to the practice squad, cut from it and later re-signed to it.
