The Cincinnati Bengals are rolling right now, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down.
Cincinnati will cap off their three-week road trip by facing the New York Jets in MetLife Stadium. This is a matchup between two teams who were last in their respective AFC divisions last season, but while one team has soared towards the top of their division this year, the other has stayed at the bottom.
The Jets are struggling in multiple ways through seven weeks. They have one win to their name, and their next one may not come until their starting quarterback is able to play again. Rookie Zach Wilson will miss his first of a few games as he rests his knee. In his place is fourth-year backup Mike White, who has the pleasure of facing the Bengals’ fifth-ranked defense per Football Outsiders’ DVOA metric.
A quarterback matchup of White vs. Joe Burrow equals a spread of now 10.5 favoring the team with Burrow under center. The second-year quarterback is firing on all cylinders in an offense that is finding a clear identity. He has 687 passing yards and six touchdowns during this two-game win streak the Bengals have going for them.
Blowing out three teams in a row is a tall task in the NFL, but that’s exactly what the Bengals can do Sunday. Outside of a talented defensive line, the Jets don’t have much to offer, especially with such an inexperienced quarterback leading their already struggling offense.
