The Cincinnati Bengals are off to a hot 3-1 start to the new season and Joe Burrow has been playing at a high level in his return.

During his rookie campaign, a big talking point on Burrow was his struggle when it came to deep passes. That “weakness” has shown improvement in the new season.

Through 4 games in 2021, Burrow has been one of the league’s best deep passers on attempts of 20+ yards. Burrow finds himself ranked alongside Russell Wilson and Zach Wilson.

Pro Football Focus took to Twitter to show that Burrow ranks 2nd in the NFL on 20+ yard throws with a 128.5 rating. Russell Wilson came in at No. 1 with a 130.2 and Zach Wilson is 3rd with a 115.6.

A lot of this newfound success on deep passing is a nod to the Bengals’ 5th overall draft pick of Ja’Marr Chase.

Burrow and Chase have linked up for two touchdowns on 40+ yards so far this season which is exactly why the Bengals decided to take Chase in the NFL Draft.

The deep passes were something that was missing from the Bengals’ offense, but it looks like they are heading in the right direction.

We should also expect deep pass opportunities to increase once wide receiver Tee Higgins, who has missed the past two games, returns.
