It’s not every week you play the league’s MVP.

The 3-1 Cincinnati Bengals welcome the 3-1 Green Bay Packers and former MVP Aaron Rodgers on Sunday. The kickoff is at 1 pm ET with the game being held at Paul Brown Stadium.

The team is expecting a sellout crowd, something not commonly said for the Bengals. With the stadium sitting 65,000, PBS should get loud on Sunday afternoon. With several big-time players, Cincinnati should be up for the task.

While the offensive side of the ball has standouts like Ja’Marr Chase, Joe Burrow and Joe Mixon, the defense is what will win this ballgame for the Bengals. With Jessie Bates set to play, the superstar safety has big plans if he picks off Rodgers.

The Cincinnati Enquirer’s Kelsey Conway caught up with Bates and asked him about meeting the future first-ballot Hall of Famer.

Bates is stellar safety and one of the most important players for the Bengals defensively.

However, the chance that he picks off Rodgers is still slim. Rodgers had two interceptions against the Saints but hasn’t thrown one since Week 1. He had just five interceptions all last season.

The 6-foot-1 Bates has yet to interception a quarterback this season. He had three in each of his first three seasons in the league, so the time should be ticking for the fourth-year safety to get his first of the season.

Bates missed last week, the team’s lone primetime game of the season. They gave up 14 points in the first half. While they did rally, the Bengals ultimately gave up 21 points to Jacksonville.

Bates will be back and just in time as well. Cincinnati should be near full strength, and with Bates back in the lineup, they should be able to make life tough on Rodgers.
