The Cincinnati Bengals are adding more depth to their defensive line in former Browns defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi, who was signed to a one-year deal. Per Over the Cap, it’s for $6.2 million.

The 26-year-old Ogunjobi was drafted by Cleveland in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of UNC Charlotte. He did not factor much into the Browns 2017 defense, but in 2018 he played a more prominent role in all 16 games and recorded 5.5 sacks with a forced fumble.

In 2019, he again recorded 5.5 sacks while making 50 total tackles in 15 games. The reason he did not play a full season was due to a suspension after he shoved down Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph to the ground from behind in the infamous fight that saw Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett hit Rudolph with his helmet.

Last season, Ogunjobi again played in 15 games but recorded just 2.5 sacks and 46 total tackles but did record a forced fumble.

Ogunjobi will now look to compete for the second defensive tackle spot aside D.J. Reader with the likes of Mike Daniels and Christian Covington after Geno Atkins was cut Friday.

He marks the second defensive lineman signing for the Bengals this offseason, joining Saints defensive end Trey Hendrickson to replace Carl Lawson after he signed with the New York Jets.

Do you approve of the Bengals adding the former division rival? Or wish the team went a different route in adding depth at the defensive tackle spot? Share your opinion in the poll below:
