Here’s how Bengals fans reacted to the news that the NFL is allowing secondary helmets.

On Thursday afternoon, reports surfaced that said the NFL was implementing a new helmet policy.

According to the report from Pro Football Talk, “Teams can pair the second helmet with alternate, throwback or Color Rush uniforms.”

This change won’t go into effect until 2022, so we won’t see any new helmets until next season. But that still got Cincinnati Bengals fans very excited!

There are two main suggestions for what the Bengals’ alternate helmet should be. The most outspoken fans want to see a white helmet with black stripes to pair with the all-white uniform selection.

The second camp are the ones who want to see a throwback uniform. The orange helmet with “Bengals” written across the side would be a welcome addition to the #NewStripes.

Though the proponents of this look are not as outspoken, they seem to be plentiful.

There is a minority opinion that the Bengals should borrow the look from their neighbors at Nippert. Some fans would like to see an all-black look, like the Bearcats.

One thing is for certain, however, and that is that Bengals fans across the board are excited for a new helmet. After getting new uniforms this season, the thought of a new helmet, no matter the color, helps us look forward to next year even more.
