The Cincinnati Bengals won two games in 2019. That’s what landed them the first pick in the following draft to get their franchise quarterback, Joe Burrow.
Having a historic season at LSU, winning both the National Championship and Heisman Trophy, Burrow was an easy pick for Cincinnati.
However, his rookie season didn’t go quite as planned. A horrific offensive line plagued most of the season and eventually did the rookie in.
Burrow tore his ACL in Week 11, starting just 10 games and winning two of them and tying in another. But, the young gun is looking to rebound, and former Bengal great Chad Johnson is keeping the faith.
Johnson has been impressed with the Ohio native that’s captaining his Bengals. He talked to The Enquirer’s Tyler Dragon, telling him that the “sky is the limit” for Burrow.
While his play is what will drop jaws, Burrow’s leadership and passion are what will hopefully make him one of the best to ever play in Cincinnati. He still has a ways to go to get there, but the future is bright for the Bengals with him leading the way.
As a rookie, Burrow ended the season with 13 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He also totaled 2,688 yards. With multiple 300-yard games in there as well, Burrow will have a chance to drastically increase those this coming season.
He looked great up until the injury.
There should be some concern that he won’t be as athletic, but he’s been putting that to shame with offseason workout videos and OTAs. As Johnson noted, the sky is the limit, and no one around the league is betting against the 24-year-old star.
