The Cincinnati Bengals have acquired C Lamont Gaillard off of waivers from the Arizona Cardinals.

Gaillard (6-3, 305) was a sixth-round draft pick of the Cardinals back in 2019. In his two seasons in Arizona, he played in 13 games and made two starts in 2020. Pro Football Focus graded him with a 48.1 for his appearances in 2020.

Before the NFL, Gaillard was a three-year starter at center for the Georgia Bulldogs. In 2018, Gaillard played a few games next to right guard Trey Hill, whom the Bengals selected in the sixth-round of this year’s NFL Draft. Gaillard and Hill will now become the newest pair of former collegiate teammates on the Bengals’ roster.

The addition of Gaillard comes several weeks after news of Hakeem Adeniji’s injury broke. Adeniji was expected to compete at guard this season, so with Gaillard coming into town with experience at center, this may indicate that Hill and or Keaton Sutherland could be playing more guard during training camp and preseason action.

Trey Hopkins is still working back from his ACL injury, so Gaillard also provides additional depth behind Billy Price.
