Joe Burrow wants to play in preseason games

“I just want to hit once or twice before I go out there.”

Earlier this week, word came out from Bengals owner Mike Brown that the organization was planning on not running Joe Burrow out on the field for the three preseason games coming up in August.

Burrow was medically cleared to return to full participation in camp, and he’s seemed as close to 100% as he could be after three days of camp. If it is up to Burrow though, he would be trotting out onto the field for a few snaps this preseason.

“I’d like to get out there and feel the rush at least a couple of times,” Burrow said Wednesday. “Don’t have to play the full game, but I would like to get out there a little bit. We’ll have that discussion with Zac (Taylor) and ownership.

“I just want to hit once or twice before I go out there. That’s kind of the way it’s always been for me. It doesn’t really feel like football till you get hit a little bit. That’s how it’s been for me since eighth grade.”

It appears the big question coming into this preseason is the risk worth it? I really don’t see Taylor or Brown giving in to letting him play, but we will find out soon enough what the final call will be.
