One of the Cincinnati Bengals’ top players of their first preseason game is injured.
Late in the third quarter of preseason game No. 1 vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, defensive end Joseph Ossai suffered a wrist injury while pressuring the quarterback.
After grimacing in pain after the play, Ossai left the field, was examined by trainers in the blue medical tent, and finally left for the locker room to likely get x-rays and other testing. The Bengals later declared him out with a right wrist injury.
This would be a brutal loss for the Bengals, as the third-round rookie was arguably the Bengals’ biggest performer. He shined while playing with the starters, including a sack of Tom Brady.
Ossai would remain in the game as second and third-string players were inserted, and he ultimately was injured at a point in the game when it was highly debatable if he should still be in it.
We will update this post if more details come out.
