For the second-straight week, the Cincinnati Bengals will be down several key players as they take on the Washington Football Team, including Joe Burrow.
Here is a look at the players not expected to play tonight.
The following #Bengals are not expected to play tonight vs WFT:
— Marisa Contipelli (@BengalsMarisa) August 20, 2021
QB Joe Burrow
C Trey Hopkins
G D’Ante Smith
TE Mitchell Wilcox
HB Trayveon Williams
CB Eli Apple
CB Antonio Phillips
CB Donnie Lewis Jr.
S Ricardo Allen
DE Joseph Ossai
DE Khalid Kareem
We already knew about several of these guys being sidelined, including rising rookie D’Ante Smith. The fourth-round pick out of ECU has had a strong showing in training camp and his first preseason game, but a dehydration issue will keep him sidelined tonight. That means Xavier Su’a-Filo and Michael Jordan will get more chances to bolster their case for being the starting right guard in Week 1.
Most of these guys practiced at some point over the last week with the exception of running back Trayveon Williams and defensive ends Joseph Ossai and Khalid Kareem. Williams suffered a hamstring injury last Thursday and has been sidelined ever since.
As for Ossai and Kareem, it’s unclear how long they’ll be out. In the meantime, the Bengals did work out free agent defensive end Noah Spence.
Here are the Washington players sidelined tonight, which include former Bengals cornerback William Jackson III.
