The Cincinnati Bengals have waived injured cornerback Donnie Lewis, who has a hamstring injury.

Lewis, a first-year player out of Tulane, joined the Bengals last season and spent the last seven games on the practice squad. He did not see game action.

Originally a seventh-round NFL Draft pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2019, Lewis spent all of that season on Cleveland’s practice squad, then was waived by the Browns during final cuts before the start of the 2020 season.

If Lewis clears waivers, he will revert to the Bengals’ Reserve/Injured list. Cincinnati’s roster now stands at 80 players ahead of Tuesday’s deadline for all 32 teams to get their rosters down to that number.

The Bengals are also now down to nine cornerbacks heading into the preseason finale vs. the Miami Dolphins. Jalen Davis, Antonio Phillips, Tony Brown and Winston Rose are battling it out for the final spots at that position.
