Chris Evans’ spot on the Cincinnati Bengals’ 53-man roster is now effectively secured.
Evans, a sixth-round rookie by way of the Michigan Wolverines, was already a near-lock to be on the Week 1 roster after a productive training camp and first preseason games.
There’s no doubt now after Evans made a spectacular diving grab for the Bengals’ first touchdown of their preseason clash with the Miami Dolphins. It came on a 29-yard dime dropped in by Brandon Allen to tie the game at 7-all early in the second quarter.
It was actually the Bengals’ longest play of the preseason thus far, and it left no doubt they found a keeper in Evans.

It was also nice to see Allen make such a beautiful throw between two defenders in the absolute perfect spot. These are the kinds of plays that show why the coaching staff has so much faith in Allen as the next man up if Joe Burrow can’t go.
Who Dey!
