UPDATE: Per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, the Bengals will also receive a conditional seventh-round pick along with B.J. Hill in exchange for Billy Price.

The Cincinnati Bengals have made a trade, as Billy Price is being sent to the New York Giants in exchange for defensive tackle B.J. Hill, according to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport.

This is quite surprising, as Price was having a decent camp and preseason while getting extended reps at center with Trey Hopkins working his way back from an ACL tear. Price can also play guard, so it will be interesting to see how the offensive line shakes out now that he’s no longer part of the equation.

Price was the Bengals’ first-round pick from the 2018 NFL Draft. Hill was taken 48 picks later by the Giants. In his three years in New York, Hill played over 1,500 snaps and recorded 62 solo tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and 13 quarterback hits. His strength is in run defense, as he’s received a Pro Football Focus graded of 71 or higher in that category in all three years with the Giants.

Hill has been a solid contributor for New York, but he found himself outside of their starting lineup last season. Like Price, he’ll hope to make the most of a new opportunity with a new club.
