The Cincinnati Bengals have announced a flurry of roster moves, which includes two new additions to the 53-man roster, as well as a pair of players being cut. The team also announced the initial practice squad.
To make room, the Bengals terminated the contract of veteran wide receiver Mike Thomas and waived first-year wide receiver Trenton Irwin.
McCloud, weighing in at 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, is a rookie out of the University of Notre Dame who was a college free agent signee of the Bills in May. He played in all three preseason games for the Bills this year and had nine tackles, two pass deflections and an interception.
Ray, weighing in at 6-foot-3 and 255 pounds, is a second-year player out of Boston College who originally was a college free agent signee of the Cleveland Browns in 2019. He also spent time with the Bills, Houston Texans, New York Jets and Titans. He has played in four career games — all with Tennessee in 2020 — and has a sack.
My guess is at least one of Thomas/Irwin is signed to the practice squad, which is currently one short of the 16-man limit.
