Twitter reactions from Bengals’ instant classic against Vikings

Bengals fans were excited, frustrated and then relieved on Sunday to start the season.

The Cincinnati Bengals and Minnesota Vikings combined for an unbelievable Week 1 outing. There were plenty of ups and downs that had fans feeling the whiplash from the rollercoaster of this game.

The highlight of course is that Joe Burrow and fans are back in the stadium, and as long as No. 9 is behind center this team seems to have a chance.

Fans make the Jungle roar

It was the first chance for Cincinnati to have fans in their stadium again since 2020 had obvious COVID-19 restrictions in place. It didn’t take long for the fans to make their impact felt as the Vikings had three false starts on their first drive.

Chase away the haters

There was plenty of negativity surrounding the Bengals offseason. They opted to draft Ja’Marr Chase to create a stacked set of skill positions. Many wanted them to take offensive line help. Then people were down on Chase after he struggled in the preseason with drops.

Safe to say that narrative is shutdown as Chase kept his eye on having a big debut.

Poor decision

The Bengals were on their own 30-yard line with a 4th-and-short following a big gain by Chase on third down. Zac Taylor opted to ride the momentum and go for the first down, but Joe Mixon ended up stumbling causing a turnover on downs. This led to a Vikings touchdown that brought Minnesota within a touchdown.

Bengals barely claw out victory

The Bengals certainly didn’t make that one easy. After letting the Vikings back into the game, it ended up turning into an instant classic. It could have ended in an instant disaster for Cincinnati though with Minnesota in field goal range.

However, Jessie Bates and Germaine Pratt combined to force a fumble. That set up Joe Burrow the chance to play hero on fourth-and-inches with a deep pass to tight end C.J. Uzomah.

This isn’t Bengals fans’ first run in with such a close game, and it is starting to wear on fans. At least this one ended in our favor.
