The Cincinnati Bengals today have waived cornerback Donnie Lewis.

A first-year player out of Tulane, Lewis was placed on Injured Reserve on August 24th after originally being waived the day before.

Lewis was originally a seventh-round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns back in 2019. The Browns kept him on their practice squad for his rookie season and waived him at the start of the 2020 season. He then signed with the Bengals in the middle of the 2020 season and spent the last seven weeks of the season on the practice squad. He signed a futures deal with the club on January 4th and continued to practice with the team until he was waived and landed on I.R.

Lewis and the Bengals have reached an injury settlement that will compensate Lewis to some degree. He would’ve been paid a salary had he stayed on I.R., so the settlement gives the Bengals and Lewis the freedom to part ways without financial complications.
