The NFL season is still very young, but injuries are beginning to impact the Bengals and Steelers.
Coming off their loss to the Chicago Bears, the Bengals are now dealing with injuries on offense after defense made up most of their injury reports to start the season. Tee Higgins (shoulder) and Xavier Su’a-Filo (knee) did not participate during Wednesday’s rainy practice inside Paul Brown Stadium. Higgins was seen doing rehab work on the side and is listed as day-to-day along with Su’a-Filo.
Trae Waynes (hamstring) was also a non-participant Wednesday, but there’s hope for him to get some work in this week and potentially play on Sunday. Josh Tupou was the fourth and final DNP for personal reasons.
Darius Phillips and Larry Ogunjobi were both limited. Phillips got a partial rest day and Ogunjogi is dealing with a groin injury.
Speaking of groins, let’s turn our attention towards the Steelers, who have four defensive players listed with groin ailments: Devin Bush, Joe Haden, Alex Highsmith, and T.J. Watt. Bush was a full participant, but Haden and Watt were limited and Highsmith didn’t practice at all.
Bush and Haden missed Pittsburgh’s previous game against the Las Vegas Raiders with their respective injuries. Watt and Highsmith both injured their groins during the game.
Carlos Davis (knee), Diontae Johnson (knee), Eric Ebron (coaches decision), and Ben Roethlisberger (pectoral) all did not practice either. Justin Layne is listed with an achilles injury.
