Joe Burrow Criticism is Allowed

I understand that a lot of fans LOVE Burrow. From winning the championship at LSU, the SB run last year, his toughness, and just being an Ohio guy. He’s very likable. I personally love having a qb that’s not scared to speak on what he believes in politically and in social injustices. He’s an intelligent player and doesn’t seem to back down. I respect and understand all that.

Now as far as his play is where I feel like we can have an honest discussion. I played football in HS and a little after. I help coach a team here in the UK. I’m no genius at it but have a pretty good understanding of the game. So I’m asking people that are smarter than me, what does he do great? What’s making him the generational talent that we keep hearing he is? Football is a team sport and he’s been on teams that have been absolutely loaded with talent. LSU was like the dream team of the NCAA. He set big records with a great offense. Now we see him in Cincinnati with tons of weapons and we go to the SB. Last year he shown he can win with a horrible offensive line. What changed this year?

To hear Burrows comment about not being able to beat teams coverages playing us deep was weak af. I don’t want to hear that. Come out and say they’ve got to find a way to get better and beat it or anything besides that. Why else even show up to play? I hope y’all can make this make sense.

This isn’t to bash the guy, I just don’t understand. I see a guy talking about how much time we’ve got a lot of football to play still. On podcasts seeming like he’s still the same player he was last year. Looks like homie bought into all of the "next Brady" talk and hasn’t lived up to it. Now does he step it up or just be an average qb that can look good with tons of talent around him? Can he get back to last years form or will he just be living off last years run the rest of his career?

I do believe coaching is holding this team back. The non existence of Mixon hasn’t helped. Joe won’t come out and publicly say that’s what’s the problem is or throw anyone under the bus. I just want to know everyone’s take on it. Not the people that are to in love with Joe to see he’s off to a bad start, but football fans that see it like it is. We’ve only got stronger offensive on paper this season. So what gets him back on track?
