The sports writers, and us fans, always talk about a Reach when a player is selected. Grades of the draft are commonly based on the arbitrary assignment of order of not only positional ranking but individual ranking. I wonder if a Reach means the same thing among the sports writers and us fans or even us CJers. To me, a Reach is when the player that is selected would most likely still be available at the team's next selection. If a player is ranked at #56 and taken at #31, I do not consider this a Reach as at selection #63 the player would most likely have already been selected. Drew Sample seems to be a Reach because many of us feel he would have been available at the Bengal's next selection. Does MY definition of Reach match YOURS?
