Bengals Injury Roundup: Orlando Brown Jr. not at Monday practice

The good news is Tee Higgins and Chidobe Awuzie were present.

The bye week has come and gone for the Cincinnati Bengals, who now prepare for maybe their hardest game of the year when they hit the road to face the 49ers.

Because they’re coming out of a bye, the Bengals get an extra practice this week on Monday, which brought about some concerning news with Orlando Brown Jr. The veteran left tackle was not seen at Monday’s practice as he continues to nurse a groin injury.

Also missing was backup linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither (knee). He’s missed the last three games after hurting his knee in practice.

Wide receiver Tee Higgins (rib) and cornerback Chidobe Awuzie (back) were present. Punt returner Charlie Jones (thumb) was on the rehab field. Jones is on IR and will be eligible to return in Week 9 vs. the Buffalo Bills.

I wouldn’t hit the panic button just yet on Brown’s chances of playing this week since today isn’t even an official practice. Groin injuries can be tricky to manage, so giving him as much rest as possible is a must.

Still, there’s no question this is one of the biggest storylines to monitor for the Bengals entering Week 8.

Following practice, Brown was in the Bengals locker room and said he plans to play in Week 8.
