The 2023-24 season has not been the best for the Cincinnati Bengals with the early season struggles and then the loss of Joe Burrow for the season.
It has also not been the best season for wide receiver Tee Higgins. However, the respect he has from around the league has not changed.
In The Athletic’s annual anonymous NFL player poll, 76 total players voted for the league’s most underrated player. Higgins was voted the most underrated player in the league, securing 5.4% of the responses.
The list also included the likes of Mike Evans, Maxx Crosby, and Mark Andrews, so Higgins taking the top spot is high praise from his peers.
Higgins has been often overshadowed by the combo of Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase, but Higgins has been a crucial part of the Bengals’ success.
Despite recording back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, it doesn’t look like a third consecutive season is going to happen after suffering two different injuries.
Higgins will be a free agent this offseason, but the Bengals can place a franchise tag on him if a new deal is not agreed to in time.
Even though Higgins was named the league’s most underrated player, he will not be paid like the most underrated player when his new contract ultimately gets finalized.
