Not the news Cincinnati wanted.

Update 2: Looks like the Bengals won’t have Ja’Marr Chase vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 16, and he could be out longer.

According to Ian Rapoport, the expectation is Chase’s separated shoulder will at least cost him this week’s game at Pittsburgh, and there’s a real chance he misses Week 17 at the Kansas City Chiefs.

This comes after Chase had an MRI on Monday, which must have not produced the results Cincinnati was hoping for.

Time for Tee Higgins to step up.

Update: Head coach Zac Taylor confirmed it’s an AC sprain and that Ja’Marr Chase is day-to-day.

It sounds like Ja’Marr Chase may have avoided a season-ending injury, but just how long will he be out?

According to NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo, Chase suffered a separated shoulder/AC joint sprain in the Bengals’ 27-24 win over the Vikings. It happened in the fourth quarter, and while he did briefly return to the game, Chase eventually was forced to call it a day and was ruled out.

“The hope is that maybe he won’t miss any time. We shall see on that one,” Garafolo reported.

If Chase ends up missing the Week 16 clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Bengals passing offense will be relying heavily on Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd while also hoping for rookies Charlie Jones and Andrei Iosivas to step up.

Let’s just hope this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Chase this season.

Ja’Marr Chase is one of the Cincinnati Bengals' most important offensive players, but he was not in for overtime against the Minnesota Vikings due to a right shoulder injury that eventually had him ruled out. The question now is how long he will be out for this injury.

Chase seemed to have suffered the injury on a 24-yard reception on 3rd and 21 for a first down in the fourth quarter. He came off the field after that play but eventually went back in, although clearly was still experiencing discomfort.

He eventually came back off the field before going to the locker room for a closer look at his shoulder before he eventually came back out in street clothes with his arm seemingly up in some sort of sling.

Chase was at that point ruled out of the game, and if he misses much time this season that will make the Bengals playoff odds even tougher as Browning no longer has one of the best receivers in the league to throw to.
