Cincy Jungle staff Picks for Thursday Night Football and open thread

Can the Patriots pull off the upset in Pittsburgh.

NFL: Los Angeles Chargers at New England Patriots David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Thursday Night Football has had better matchups on paper than the New England Patriots taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Patriots have had one of the worst years since Tom Brady started an era of dominance for them. They have only managed two wins so far, and they have lost three games in a row where the other team hasn’t scored more than 10 points.

To say the offense has had issues is an understatement. They have only scored 20 or more points. They have also pulled quarterback Mac Jones several times in the past few games, but Bailey Zappe hasn’t been much better. Even worse, running back Rhamondre Stevenson will miss the game with a high ankle sprain. He was the most consistent source of offense the team has had.

The Steelers haven’t been in too much better of a position offensively. After enjoying the successful game after finally firing offensive coordinator Matt Canada, they crashed back down to earth with only 10 points against the Arizona Cardinals, but that could be enough to take care of the Patriots this week.

Pittsburgh will also be without quarterback Kenny Pickett, but he hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire this season. He only has six passing and a rushing touchdown on the season. There could even be a case made that if Mitch Trubisky comes in and plays well, they could ride the hot hand.

Here is who the staff is taking in this one.
