Bengals vs. Browns Injury Report: Higgins and Mixon DNP

Will Higgins play the finale?

NFL: Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs Kareem Elgazzar-USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Bengals are closing out their 2023 season with a home matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

With the season ending after Sunday, some players with injuries may opt to start the recovery process early.

For the Bengals, wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase (shoulder) was a full participant Thursday and said he plans to play. Chase is two receptions shy of the franchise record, so that could be his motivation to play.

Fellow receiver Tee Higgins (hamstring) did not practice for the second straight day. His status for Sunday is in doubt, and with free agency looming, we may have seen the last of Higgins in a Bengals uniform.

Joe Mixon (illness) popped up on the report as a nonparticipant. Hopefully, that passes, and he is able to play, as he is just 77 yards shy of another 1,000 rushing-yard season.

Cornerback Chidobe Awuzie (shoulder) was limited for a second straight day, but fellow corner Jalen Davis (groin) was upgraded to full.

Quarterback Jake Browning (foot) was also added to the report, but practiced in full.

As for the Browns, they were again without wide receiver Amari Cooper, guard Joel Bitonio, center Ethan Pocic, kicker Dustin Hopkins, and middle linebacker Anthony Walker.

Also added to the DNP list on Thursday were defensive tackle Shelby Harris, cornerback Mike Ford, and middle linebacker Jordan Kunaszyk.

Expect most, if not all of those players to sit this game out.
