The Philadelphia Eagles added another former Cincinnati Bengals player.
This time, after a tryout, the Eagles signed wide receiver John Ross III to a one-year deal. Ross is notoriously one of the biggest draft busts in Bengals history, having been taken with the team’s ninth overall pick in 2017.
The 28-year-old has not played in an NFL game since 2021 and previously announced his retirement in 2023 after a brief stint with the Kansas City Chiefs. He had his best season in 2019, where he went for 506 receiving yards and 29 receptions.
Ross totaled 733 receiving yards through his four seasons with the Bengals. He then signed with the New York Giants in 2021 and had 20 targets and 11 receptions.
Now, Ross will join a list of former Bengals in Philadelphia, which includes long-time tight end CJ Uzomah.

WR John Ross
OT Fred Johnson
TE CJ Uzomah
K Jake Elliott
*QB Will Grier
(Eagles at Bengals in Week 8 on 10/27/2024)
*=practice squad only
Cincinnati will survive without these names, but it would’ve been nice for Uzomah to have stayed instead of taking his talents elsewhere after helping Cincinnati reach Super Bowl LVI.
