Vontaze Burfict vs. A.J. Green.
If we're staging an obviously futile attempt to generate some interest for the 2014 NFL Pro Bowl, that would be it. Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green and linebacker Vontaze Burfict were the only Bengals selected to the Pro Bowl. Because the NFL eliminated the tradition contest between conferences, the league held a draft between two teams: Team (Deion) Sanders and Team (Jerry) Rice.
Green was selected by Team Sanders in the fifth round -- aka, the fifth pick by Sanders, who selected Dez Bryant in the fourth-round. In the eighth-round, Team Rice grabbed Vontaze Burfict; one pick earlier, team Sanders selected Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly.
In previous years, the Pro Bowl didn't allow for zone coverage (except for goalline). However, rule changes are allowing "cover two" and "press coverage" on defense. Regardless, we're not worried about Burfict touching Green across the middle because, frankly, we're convinced that after both teams had finalized their respective rosters, that Burfict received a text from head coach Marvin Lewis... "I'm watching."
