NFL Week 4 Bengals at Browns: Cincinnati’s Unsung Hero of the Week

While there were a number of great individual performances by the Bengals, there were a number of others which have been lost in the shuffle. Cast your vote and sound off on your Week 4 Bengals’ Unsung Hero of the Week!

Cincinnati Bengals v Cleveland Browns

Going to Cleveland was apparently what was just the doctor ordered for the Cincinnati Bengals. After an ominous 0-3 start, Cincinnati met up with a familiar foe and got their 2017 season back on track.

Because Week 4 was the first regular season win since January, it’s been tough to come up with unsung heroes on a weekly basis. However, in a 31-7 drubbing of their rivals, there were a number of contributors whose efforts should be highlighted.

Carl Lawson: In terms of traditional stats, the exciting rookie didn’t have one on Sunday. However, a pressure that led to a DeShone Kizer incompletion, also brought about an interesting story.

Lawson essentially lost his two front teeth on the hit, which he has since remedied. Still, call me a “meatball” if you will, but if you are losing teeth playing this game while remaining productive, you get a nod here, in an award that is a “Charlie-Hustle” type of award.

Randy Bullock: There are still significant questions as to Bullock’s ability to hit a crunch-time kick for the Bengals, but he had a nice day on Sunday. He was 4-of-4 on extra points and nailed a 41-yard field goal to partially atone for his miss last week in Green Bay.

Darqueze Dennard: It’s been a solid couple of weeks for the embattled former first round corner. After playing well against Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, Dennard had a second consecutive week of solid play against DeShone Kizer and the Browns. He finished with four tackles and a sack, being one of Pro Football Focus’ better players on the afternoon.

Andre Smith: It’s been a tough road for the Bengals’ offensive line this year and Smith hasn’t been immune to criticism. After seeming to have the inside track on the starting right guard job this spring, Smith has taken a back seat, in terms of playing time.

However, with struggles becoming apparent with Jake Fisher and Cedric Ogbuehi at tackle, as well as Trey Hopkins recovering from a knee injury, Smith has had to step in as a veteran presence. He hasn’t been outstanding, but has steadied some of the issues recently—especially on Sunday afternoon.
