It was an up-and-down game for the Cincinnati Bengals this week, who came up just short against the Buffalo Bills. Even so, a number of players made significant contributions for the team in their near-win.
Cast your vote for the Bengals’ Week 3 MVP in their 17-21 loss to the Bills!
Joe Mixon: The Bengals’ star running back said he’d up his game against the Bills in the middle of the week and he backed it up on Sunday. Despite blocking issues, Mixon had a 4.1-yard-per-carry average, churning out 61 tough yards on 15 carries. He also had 34 yards through the air and a touchdown reception.
Tyler Boyd: The veteran receiver continues to step up and make plays with A.J. Green out of the lineup. Although he had just six catches on 11 targets, he had 67 yards and was a consistent chain-mover. The stats would have probably been boosted if he and Andy Dalton were on the same page more frequently.
Auden Tate: Sunday was Tate’s biggest pro workload to date and he rose to the occasion. He had six receptions, but led the team in receiving yards with 88. He was particularly effective on the final drive, grabbing two receptions for 22 yards.
Darius Phillips: This kid is quietly raining eyebrows with his play. Phillips had a 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown that was wiped out by a ticky-tack holding call on Tate, but that wasn’t all. Phillips also had a critical interception of Josh Allen that led to Cincinnati’s first touchdown of the game.
Geno Atkins: The veteran defensive tackle had a sack on Buffalo’s first drive of the game and was a constant presence in the Bills’ backfield. He finished with a sack and five total tackles, but he could have had a couple of other quarterback takedowns if Allen didn’t slip through his grasp.
