Though there were many dry spells for the Cincinnati Bengals against the Chicago Bears, there were some notable plays and individual performances. Cast your vote and sound off on your winners for the Bengals’ Week 2 awards!

Most Valuable Player

Evan McPherson:

The kid plays nothing like a young rookie. No kick seems to rattle him, and he proved that in Week 2. He nailed a 53-yarder and both of his extra point attempts.

Ja’Marr Chase:

Another rookie who is shining is the team’s No. 5 overall pick, who continues to make big plays. Chase had a 42-yard touchdown catch and is making big plays a weekly thing.

Logan Wilson:

Wilson finished with nine total tackles and a tide-turning interception late in the fourth quarter. He did miss a fumble recovery opportunity, but remains one of the defense’s best players, as evidenced by his high PFF scores.

Trey Hendrickson:

Hendrickson has been a nice addition off of the edge via free agency. He had 1.5 sacks, three tackles and a forced fumble on Sunday against the Bears.

D.J. Reader:

If you don’t think Wilson is the team’s best defensive player at this point, then Reader should be in the conversation. He finished with three tackles, a sack and was a big part of the defense shutting down David Montgomery.

Unsung Hero of the Week

Tee Higgins:

The second-year receiver had a crucial lost fumble, but still made a share of nice plays. Higgins had six catches for 60 yards and a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Tyler Boyd:

The veteran wide receiver had a quiet Week 1, but just as quietly led the team in receiving yards this week. He had seven catches for 73 yards on nine targets.

Sam Hubbard:

Hubbard has been really active off of the edge the first two weeks. He notched a half-sack and seven total tackles on a defense that largely held the Bears in check.

Vonn Bell:

Though he had a taunting penalty early, Bell remains a physical presence on this defense. Bell had six total tackles, including one for a loss and a pass defended.

Play of the Week

Evan McPherson’s 53-yard field goal:

Cincinnati was having major trouble getting on the scoreboard, so they relied on their rookie with the big leg to start them off right in the third quarter. McPherson drilled the 53-yarder to get the Bengals going.

Ja’Marr Chase’s 42-yard touchdown:

The Bengals needed some kind of spark, so they went to their exciting rookie. Chase had beaten a defender deep a couple of plays earlier, so they went deep to him here for the first touchdown of the game. He adjusted well, evaded defenders and strode into the end zone for his second big play in as many weeks.

Logan Wilson’s fourth quarter interception:

It initially seemed that the Chase touchdown would be nothing more than fantasy points in garbage time, but Wilson had other plans. He grabbed a Justin Fields pass to put the Bengals back in business for what was becoming an incredible comeback.

Tee Higgins’ 7-yard touchdown reception:

One play after the Wilson pick, Joe Burrow and Higgins took advantage. Burrow found his red zone target in the middle of the field, as Higgins out-muscled his defender to grab the touchdown.
