It was a long-shot at best.
After missing the entire week of practice, the Bengals are sitting their best safety and cornerback Sunday against the Browns. Cornerback Leon Hall and safety Reggie Nelson suffered hamstring injuries against the Green Bay Packers last week, forced to rest this week in preparation for the New England Patriots next week.
Joining them will be cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick (hamstring), missing his third straight game of the season and offensive guard Mike Pollak (knee), who hasn't played since suffering an injury against the Indianapolis Colts in the preseason finale. Defensive end Margus Hunt, offensive tackle Tanner Hawkinson, and running back Rex Burkhead are also out. Burkhead and Hunt have been game-day inactive all four weeks this season.
On the bright side, Brandon Ghee will make his season debut after dealing with a concussion since the preseason opener against the Atlanta Falcons.
Taylor Mays will start for Reggie Nelson and Cornerback Adam Jones will start for Leon Hall.
As for the Browns, Brandon Weeden (thumb) was declared out earlier this week. He'll be joined by linebacker Quentin Groves (ankle), linebacker Jabaal Sheard, starting right guard Shawn Lauvao, offensive lineman Martin Wallace, defensive lineman Billy Winn and tight end Keavon Milton.
