Week Four Bengals "Unsung Hero Of The Week Award"

Though the Cleveland Browns faithful would tell you that they rightfully beat the Bengals on Sunday, fans of the orange and black would disagree and claim that they laid an egg after an emotional Week Three win against the Packers. It likely is a combination of both, but there were still some notable performances both as team MVPs and unsung heroes. This post looks at those who have been overlooked and didn't make the cut as MVPs in our previous post.

Giovani Bernard: All this kid does is make plays. He is becoming a nice security blanket in the passing game for Andy Dalton and combined for 76 yards (37 rushing, 39 receiving). He is slowly gaining a bigger role in the offense and will continue to be trusted with a heavy workload going forward. They key will be for Jay Gruden to get creative to maximize his effectiveness.

Tyler Eifert: The other big rookie had a nice day, especially thanks to a big 29-yard catch down the sideline. In limited play this year, Eifert continues to catch everything thrown his way and make plays. The team would be wise to use him in red zone and other third down situations since Dalton and some of the receivers don't appear to be on the same page at the moment. His 13 yards per reception on Sunday also suggest that he should be a target in seam routes more often as well.

Jermaine Gresham: Would you have guessed at first blush that Gresham was the team's leading yardage receiver against the Browns at first guess? Maybe, maybe not, but the Bengals' big tight end continues to make plays and convert third down opportunities. He had a monster 26-yarder across the middle against the Browns and finished with 53 yards on three catches. He did have one other drop across the middle, however, which proved to be a big play.

Vontaze Burfict: The tackling machine continued on Sunday with 14 more to his name. He consistently flies around the field and puts defenders in the right place when needed. He didn't do much to stop Jordan Cameron, unfortunately, but he also didn't have help from Reggie Nelson and/or Leon Hall in the duties either. Oh, in case you're wondering, Burfict is the leading tackler in the NFL with 42.
