Stop us if you've heard this before: Andre Smith sat out a minicamp practice. As the Bengals continued to work on Tuesday, the Bengals' veteran right tackle was absent from the lineup and was replaced by Marshall Newhouse, per Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.

Smith missed time in last year's minicamp because of personal issues following an arrest at an airport for having a gun in his suitcase. It wasn't fully disclosed if that issue was the reason for last year's absence or not, but it did raise concerns because of him coming fresh off of an extension. Smith ended up coming back for Training Camp and played well in 2013.
Though some have criticized Newhouse's value because of public perception from his time with the Packers, he is showing his versatility and there is definitely worth in that. In the first day of OTAs, Newhouse was the offense's first team left tackle because of the fluid situation at left guard and center.
