Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Darqueze Dennard, the team's first-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft, appears to be ready to make his regular season debut this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. Dennard, who has been dealing with a hip injury, sat out last week against the Baltimore Ravens.
He was a full participant during practice this week and was listed as "probable".
Dennard only played 36 snaps on defense during the preseason and they were all against the Kansas City Chiefs. During a special teams play against the New York Jets (the second preseason game), Dennard suffered a hip injury and hasn't played since... a new experience for him.
"This is new. This is my first time experiencing this injury," Dennard said via ESPN on Monday. "It's definitely different. It's something that I never experienced before and it's pretty tough. But I'm recovering well. The training staff is doing a great job and setting me up and doing schedules and getting me ready. We'll see how this week goes."
Hint. It went well.
