After nailing five first half field goals against the Baltimore Ravens last week, Cincinnati Bengals placekicker Mike Nugent has begun a new streak... this time a bit unfavorably.
A sixth attempt in Baltimore was blocked, leaving Nugent five of six in last week's game.
Against the Atlanta Falcons, after converting a possession-opening field goal to take a 3-0 lead, Nugent has missed consecutive field goals in the first half. It doesn't help that Cincinnati's offense continues to lose steam as it approaches the endzone to put the Bengals into this position. But it doesn't matter when the placekicker, suddenly afflicted with a case of the misses, is paid well to do it.
Nugent has missed three attempts this season -- with one of those being blocked. Now Nugent is 6 of 9 on the season.
