Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict was fined $25,000 by the league office for two ankle wrenches against the Carolina Panthers -- despite the league not reacting until AFTER tight end Greg Olsen said something. The league will call Burfict to the principals office if he commits another infraction. Burfict is appealing the fine.
We asked Twitter what they thought of the infraction. Anyone that used #BurfictGate is featured here.
The general theme, including the comments here at CJ, was disappointment but without any loyalty lost. Like being disappointed in your best friend for doing something (or someone) he shouldn't have.
@CincyJungle Stop with the shenanigans and do your job! You're better than that "King Tez!" #burfictgate

@CincyJungle lucky/relieved it didn't result in suspension. Needs to play smarter and protect himself, physically and mentally #burfictgate

There's no excuse for willfully harming another player. We're supposed to be adults. He should have been suspended. #burfictgate

@CincyJungle Relieved. Best thing that could happen. Dude learns a hard lesson and we get to keep him on the field! #burfictgate

@CincyJungle he needs to play smarter, already takes way too many personal foul penalties #burfictgate

Others are indifferent (saying it happens everywhere, he just got caught) to full-fledged support.
I've seen so much worse happen from much more frequent offenders and Burfict is who they want to scream "ban him" for? Pfft! #burfictgate

@CincyJungle #burfictgate Still my boy. This is the type of things that happen in football pileups. pic.twitter.com/s4O5nKo5HU

@CincyJungle this league has become so sensitive. It's pathetic #burfictgate

It's the standard with those who have committed similar acts.
I think it's in line with what other players have gotten for similar offenses. No real precedent for suspension. #burfictgate

Others just had fun... because that's what fun people do.
Wouldn't mind seeing Andrew Luck in a full-on figure four leg lock this Sunday!!! WHOOOOO @bengals #burfictgate
