Cincinnati Bengals offensive guard Kevin Zeitler missed Wednesday's practice, despite a level of confidence from head coach Marvin Lewis that he'd play this weekend against the Indianapolis Colts. During practice, the second-year guard did some work on side with trainers so it's not unreasonable to believe that he could return to practice on Thursday to prepare for Sunday's game.
Zeitler has missed two games (Cleveland Browns and San Diego Chargers) since hurting his foot against the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 10. Wednesday marked his seventh consecutive missed practice. There could be an issue of conditioning also, having missed two games with a bye week in between.
The Bengals are already short-handed on the offensive line after losing Clint Boling to a season-ending injury against the San Diego Chargers. Since backup guard Mike Pollak was already in the game to replace Zeitler, the team moved Andrew Whitworth to left guard and Anthony Collins to left tackle, who had originally started at right guard for the disciplined Andre Smith (believed to be a violation of team rules). Then again, they were pretty good in that configuration.
Six other players were listed as limited on Wednesday.
