Cornerback Curtis Marsh Waived To Make Room For Linebacker Michael Boley

With the news that the Bengals signed veteran linebacker Michael Boley on Tuesday came more roster news. To make room on the 53-man roster, Cincinnati had to waive a player and did so shortly after they announced the Boley signing. The man to go was cornerback Curtis Marsh, per multiple sources surrounding the club.

Marsh was picked up by the Bengals going into Week Three because of injuries sustained in the position group. He was active in two games, primarily playing special teams and saw a lot of action last week with Reggie Nelson, Leon Hall and Dre Kirkpatrick all inactive. The move could be signaling progress with those three defensive backs' injuries, though we won't know for sure until practices kick back in this week.

Marsh was a former third round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011. He was mostly a backup with them for his first two seasons and was shown the door after new head coach Chip Kelly's arrival. He did not rack up any stats in two games with the Bengals.

The team also officially announced the Boley signing on Tuesday. Ironically, both the cornerback and linebacker positions have been the thinnest on the team this season.
