As was pointed out on Monday, the two-year contract that Bengals linebacker Vincent Rey signed was worth $4.2 million with $1 million guaranteed.
Here's the breakdown.
Rey's contract included a $1 million roster bonus, which can be applied to the year in which the contract is triggered. Along with a $100,000 workout bonus in each of the two years of his deal, and the $1 million in base salary that's expected to earn in 2014, Rey's cap number this year is $2.1 million.
His base salary increases to $2 million in 2015 with a $100,000 workout bonus. His cap number next year is also $2.1 million.
[NOTE: Had Rey signed a signing bonus, the cap value would be distributed over the life of the contract]
Base Salary | Signing Bonus | Roster Bonus | Workout Bonus | Cap Hit | Savings (if Released) | |
2014 | $1 million | $0 | $1 million | $100,000 | $2.1 million | $1.1 million |
