As if the stories surrounding the injuries on Cincinnati's roster couldn't get much worse with Geno Atkins heavy on our minds, Bengals running back Giovani Bernard was forced to leave Thursday's game against the Dolphins with a rib injury in the fourth quarter. By that point in the game, Bernard had generated 79 yards and scored both of Cincinnati's touchdowns, helping Cincinnati wipe out a 14-point deficit with two second half scores.
Fortunately, it's not serious.
During his presser Friday afternoon, Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis appeared confident that Bernard will be back sooner rather than later. Writes Bengals.com:
Lewis indicated that running back Giovani Bernard (ribs), who missed most of the fourth quarter, won't be out long. That sounded like he'd be ready to go to Baltimore on Nov. 10.
It helps that the players will be given extended rest after playing Thursday night, having ten days before next Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens.
