Ravens Claim Former Bengals Defensive Tackle Christo Bilukidi Off Waivers

The Ravens snagged a talented backup player from their division foe.

We'll just say that it's been a busy day of operations for the Baltimore Ravens. The whirlwind of media coverage surrounding a video of running back Ray Rice knocking out his then-fiancee (now wife), prompted the club to release him the same afternoon. It was a bold and necessary move from a number of different fronts.

In other Ravens-related news, Baltimore had a roster spot open for them to fill. John Harbaugh and Co. decided to look within the division and at the team that just handed them a defeat at home--the Cincinnati Bengals. Per Field Yates of ESPN, the Ravens have claimed defensive lineman Christo Bilukidi off of waivers.

Bilukidi was added to the Bengals roster last season in the wake of Geno Atkins' season-ending knee injury on Halloween versus the Dolphins. He played sparingly and didn't have any stats in 2013 with the Bengals, but began turning heads this preseason. Bilukidi was release on final cutdown day and placed on waivers. To make room for Bilukidi, the Ravens released running back Fitzgerald Toussaint.

He is entering his third season and was a sixth round pick out of Georgia State by the Oakland Raiders. The Ravens already have some quality players on their defensive line and add more beef up front with the 6'5", 320-pounder.
