Mock Draft 2015: Bengals select Oklahoma DT Jordan Phillips

Mocking the Draft offers a blockbuster trade in their latest, but it doesn't impact the Bengals. In fact, they went with the status quo by drafting a defensive tackle.

To keep readers from gliding through the repetition of mundane routines, you have to change things up. During Mocking the Drafts' latest mocking draft (a weekly occurrence that usually reflects current events), the crew worked up the "blockbuster trade edition" -- mostly the Philadelphia Eagles trading up to acquire Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Since most of us don't really care what happens with other NFL teams in the fictional world of Mock Drafts, we're navigating to the Bengals No. 21 pick. Nope. No Trade.

The Bengals select Oklahoma defensive tackle Jordan Phillips.

Even if the Bengals keep Domata Peko, he only has one more year on his contract. In that scenario, the Bengals could look for a high-upside player like Phillips with this pick.

It should be noted that Mocking the Draft REALLY likes a defensive tackle in Cincinnati. They've targeted FSU defensive tackle Eddie Goldman, as well as Texas' Malcom Brown.
