Andy Dalton outplays Super Bowl winning quarterbacks

In recent history when facing quarterbacks with Super Bowl championship rings, Dalton has risen to the level of competition.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

He is the current goat of the Bengals. He has fans seeing more red than usual when looking at him. He is the cause for countless Twitter battles and debates about the future of the franchise.

He is also 5-0 in his last 5 meetings against Super Bowl winning quarterbacks.

Here are the games:

Aaron Rodgers - 9/22/2013

In the most exciting game of this season, Andy Dalton outplayed Aaron Rodgers and the Bengals ended up with the win. Rodgers finished with a stat line of 244yds, 1 touchdown, 2 interceptions for a rating of 64.5. Dalton finished with 235yds, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception for a rating of 105.5

Ben Roethlisberger - 9/16/2013

In the Monday night game Andy Dalton started the first half a little shaky but pulled out the win in the second half. He outperformed Ben Roethlisberger to give the Bengals a much needed win against the division rivals. Dalton had no interceptions and a touchdown and bested Roethlisberger in quarterback rating.

Joe Flacco - 12/30/2012

In the battle of the playoff rest game, Dalton tossed a touchdown as the Bengals beat the Ravens in the final game of the season.

Ben Roethlisberger - 12/23/2012

In this game neither QB shined. However, Dalton out performed Roethlisberger in total QB rating.

Eli Manning - 11/11/2012

Manning tossed for 215 yds, 2 interceptions and no touchdowns as the Giants lost to the Bengals 31 - 13. Andy Dalton finished the day with 199 yds, 4 touchdowns and no interceptions earning him a 127.6 quarterback rating.

Playing to the level of the competition is a common theme when talking about the Bengals. Look at the small sample of this season. They run and gun with the Packers and then crumble against the over matched Browns.

For some reason, Dalton has shown up in games where his counterpart has won it all.

This is nice to know seeing as the Bengals will be facing one of the best quarterbacks in this generation of players. Tom Brady will come to Cincinnati as a 3 time Super Bowl winner. Hopefully Dalton continues the streak of outplaying the counterpart with the hardware.

Ok now, bring the hate...
