With Christmas falling on a Wednesday this year, the Cincinnati Bengals moved up their first practice this week to Tuesday -- usually players have Tuesday off and start practicing for their next game on Wednesday. Unfortunately, with practice being on a Tuesday, several players sat during practice.
According to beat writers attending the first 30 minutes of Tuesday's session, tight ends Tyler Eifert, Jermaine Gresham, and Alex Smith all sat, along with linebackers Vontaze Burfict and Vinny Rey and cornerbacks Dre Kirkpatrick and Terence Newman.
Smith, Burfict and Onterio McCalebb are undergoing concussion protocols. Eifert was forced out of the game Sunday with a neck stinger. Newman is still rehabilitating from an MCL sprain that he suffered against the Indianapolis Colts.
The rest are unknown until the official injury report is released.
