There's offense and defense but then there's special teams, which is usually an accumulation of backup players from both units.

You special teams mainstays against the Cleveland Browns, Jeromy Miles, Vinnie Rey and Dan Skuta remain on the top of the snap distribution list. Beyond that it's the usual suspects.

Breaking down the Cincinnati Bengals snap distribution during the team's 34-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Nothing hugely of note here other than perhaps Nate Clements experiencing a noticeable drop in total snaps against the Browns on Sunday, with most of his replacement snaps coming from veteran Chris Crocker. It also appears that Dan Skuta's snap totals are increasing while Manny Lawson is experiencing a decrease. And it's clear that it will be some time before Carlos Dunlap is a three-down player, taking part just over half of the defensive snaps. Dontay Moch returned from a four-game suspension earlier this season, participating in four defensive snaps.

Breaking down the Cincinnati Bengals snap distribution during the team's 34-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

At one point during Cincinnati's loss to Cleveland Browns, starting center Jeff Faine was pulled for backup Trevor Robinson. It wasn't an injury issue nor performance; the Bengals had determined earlier in the week to give Robinson a handful of snaps for experience, so they gave him a series in the third. After the possession was over, Faine was brought back into the game. Another interesting note is that Cedric Peerman, now the team's backup running back, had 33 offensive snaps in the game, by far his most this season. It was also more than feature back BenJarvus Green-Ellis. And for the second week in a row, Chris Pressley has a low number of snaps. Ironic from a team so "committed" to the running game.
