The Cincinnati Bengals are filling out their scouting reports while Andre Smith deliriously believes he's worth more than what 32 NFL teams have him valued at.

The Cincinnati Bengals held a private workout with offensive tackle Reid Fragel on Monday, according to Pro Football Talk. Fragel also reportedly visited with the Bengals last month. Cincinnati could be in the market for an offensive tackle when the first round of the 2013 NFL draft arrives on Thursday, provided Andre Smith remains unsigned.

Fragel is currently flying under the radar a bit, but could blossom into a solid NFL contributor. Originally a converted tight end out of OSU, Fragel stands very tall at 6'8" but has good weight to pair with his height at 308 pounds. After missing the senior bowl with an undisclosed injury, he had a great combine showing, which gave him a small boost heading into the draft. The biggest concern with Fragel is his inexperience. He only played one season at tackle and often displayed messy footwork and poor technique, both of which can be corrected with proper coaching.

Mocking the draft ranks Fragel No. 10 among all offensive tackles and No. 110 overall. ESPN ranks Fragel No. 14 while NFL.com lists him No. 9.

Fragel has also visited with the New England Patriots, New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, and Chicago Bears. Reportedly heavy interest exists from Baltimore as well.

With the depth and talent at the safety position and with the Bengals need at strong safety, many believe that the team will use their first-round pick on one of them. Most believe the best safety in this year's draft class is Texas' Kenny Vaccaro but they also believe he won't be available by the time the Bengals go on the clock at No. 21. Both Cyprien and Florida's Matt Elam will likely be available, though.

If the Bengals do use their first-round pick on Cyprien, they'd be getting a safety that's good in run support and also has the range to be a solid pass defender.

Joe Goodberry's scouting report on Cyprien:

"Jonathan Cyprien not only stood out as the best athlete on the FIU defense, he's also the most instinctive; an intimidating and high-energy player on either side of the field. He's a strong safety that's very comfortable playing in the box and the best safety against the run. He has a great feel for running lanes and quickly measures up ball-carriers to make crushing hits. When he doesn't leave his feet, Cyprien is one of the better form-tacklers in this draft class. His aggressive angles can hurt him at times and he can get blocked-out by linemen, but after watching a bunch of safeties in this class, he's no worse than the rest. He can also play bump-and-run in coverage against tight ends and running backs. From a coverage perspective, Cyprien's anticipation shined. Where I was most impressed with Cyprien was his range as a center fielder. He can get sideline-to-sideline in a hurry and appears to read the quarterback's eyes very well. He can get to those deep routes along the boundary for a big hit or make a play on the ball. Cyprien's ball skills and range sold me on him as a prospect. I felt like I was watching something special the first time I watched him."

According to a report from a Miami University football staff member, quarterback Zac Dysert held a private pro day on Monday. The Bengals were one of two teams in attendance.

So far, it has been a surprisingly busy offseason for college quarterbacks and the Cincinnati Bengals. According to reports from multiple college pro days, the team has been making the rounds with a number of different quarterback prospects, some of which are projected to go in the first couple of rounds.

Most likely, this is just evidence of the Bengals performing their due diligence. But it could also be a sign that they plan to snag a developmental quarterback sometime on day three of the draft. They have already overhauled the position in-house, acquiring two new players behind starter Andy Dalton, and it would certainly make sense to continue the turnover by using a mid-to-late-round pick on a rookie quarterback.

One player the Bengals have kept a consistent eye on is Miami of Ohio's Zac Dysert. The team had previously attended Miami University's pro day almost a month ago to check out Dysert, and now, according to a report from a Miami University football staff member, the Bengals also recently held another pro day for the senior RedHawks quarterback.

Dysert finished the 2012 season with 3483 on 302 completions with a 25-12 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Although his team collected far more L's than W's last year, Dysert was a bright spot in an otherwise dreary season. He has an ideal frame for a quarterback and displays a solid arm, but has to deal with the "small school quarterback" label. Currently, he is projected to be a fourth- or fifth-round pick.

Based on the level of interest shown by the Bengals--especially this close to the draft--it appears that Dysert is firmly on the team's radar. In addition to the Bengals, however, Dysert has also met with a number of other teams in private, so competition for his services might be fierce. Still, if the Bengals manage to fill most of their needs early in the draft, don't be surprised if they take a flyer on someone like Dysert on the draft's final day.

Jones is drawing a considerable amount of interest throughout the league and he could be a late-round target for the Bengals or the team could look to bring him in as an undrafted free agent.

The Bengals are in need of a new strong safety to play alongside Reggie Nelson. They have cycled through players like Chris Crocker and Taylor Mays, but they haven't found a long-term answer. Many believe the Bengals will address the position in the first round of the draft by selecting either Texas' Kenny Vaccaro or Florida International's Jonathan Cyprien. Even if they do select a safety in the early rounds of the draft, they may look to add depth in the secondary in the later rounds as well.

After suffering an ACL tear late in the 2012 season, FSU DE Cornellius Carradine is finally healthy enough to work out fully. He currently has plans to run in front of NFL scouts in Cincinnati on Saturday.

With the draft drawing ever closer, NFL scouts are entering the home stretch in their player evaluations. For most players, opinions are already set in stone. The tape has been watched, interviews have been conducted, and workouts have been attended. For a select few players recovering from injuries, however, the scouting process is still ongoing. Such is the case with Florida State defensive end Cornellius Carradine, who suffered a torn ACL late in the 2012 season.

Unable to participate fully in the scouting combine and FSU's March 19th pro day, Carradine's health situation is still an unknown. He was able to put up an impressive 32 bench reps a month ago, but has only been able to participate in light running drills since. Carradine has all the potential in the world, but if he can't prove his health prior to the draft, then it is a sure bet he will experience a draft day tumble, possibly into the second round.

Thankfully for Carradine, he still has about a week to perform in front of scouts before his fate is sealed. And he doesn't plan on wasting any time. According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Carradine plans to run in front of NFL scouts in Cincinnati on Saturday, just four months after his season-ending knee injury.

If Carradine can show that his knee is back to 100% strength, odds are he will be a first-round pick. He possesses ideal size for the position (6'4", 276 pounds) and is one of the more explosive pass rushers in the draft. Prior to his injury, Carradine had already racked up 11 sacks in 2012.

The Bengals aren't in any immediate need for a defensive end, but that doesn't mean they won't select one. With three pass rushers entering contract years in 2013, they might end up picking a defensive end as an insurance policy depending on how the draft shakes out, and Carradine could be an absolute steal.

The Cincinnati Bengals will meet with Western Michigan quarterback Alex Carder this week.

Cincinnati is clearly doing their due-diligence filling out their draft reports, but it's believed that the Bengals will add quarterback talent to the roster either through the NFL draft or the hours that follow (aka, the period where undrafted players are signed as college free agents).

According to Aaron Wilson with the Baltimore Sun and Scout.com, the Cincinnati Bengals will host Western Michigan quarterback Alex Carder on Wednesday.
Carder generated 61 touchdowns during his sophomore and junior seasons combined, but suffered an injured finger on his throwing hand which forced him to miss six games. During 66-63 loss to Toledo on November 2011, Carder set a new Mid-American Conference record with seven passing touchdowns as well as a single-season school record 548 yards passing.

Carder also completed 9 of 11 passes for 95 yards passing during the East-West Shrine game, dominating opposing quarterback Colin Klein.

The Cincinnati Bengals are believed to be looking for a young quarterback to develop into an eventual backup role.

According to Don Banks with Sports Illustrated, the Cincinnati Bengals have met with Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Tyler Bray.

Cincinnati attended Bray's late March Pro Day in Tennessee, where he listed at 235 pounds. Bray left college a year early for the NFL draft, surprising some.

“I was really surprised he came out,” Mayock said of Bray. “I thought he should have come back and refined his name a little more. If you ask me, who are the quarterbacks with the most arm talent in this draft, he’d certainly be in the top three. He can wing it. There’s no doubt about that. however, the ball’s all over the place. He’s inconsistent from an accuracy perspective, and you also have to get comfortable with the kid. What kind of kid is he? What kind of work ethic does he have? There are some concerns there from several of the coaches I talk to.”

ESPN analyst Jon Gruden agreed.

“I just think there’s a lot of refinement that needs to take place,” Gruden said of Bray. He’s got to learn how to manage some situations better. He’s got to deliver at crunch time. He’s got to polish his game.

“He’s got to do better in terms of handling pressure. He’s not a mobile quarterback. He’s got to know where his hot receivers are. He’s got to know what audible to get to. I think his preparation needs to increase so he can be all that he can be.”

Bray finished his career with 7,444 yards passing, 69 touchdowns and 28 picks. According to Banks, at least five teams have shown interest, including the Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills (one team was unnamed).

The Bengals are believed to be interested in a rookie quarterback that they can develop into an eventual backup role. After Bruce Gradkowski left for Pittsburgh on a three-year deal, Cincinnati signed Josh Johnson and claimed John Skelton off waivers, adding Zac Robinson into a three-man training camp competition.

The Bengals have three fullbacks on the roster at the current time: Jourdan Brooks, John Conner and Chris Pressley. Pressley has been the team's starting fullback over the last three seasons and he's played in every regular-season game except three in the last two years.

The Bengals haven't drafted a fullback since 2009 when they selected Fui Vakapuna out of BYU in the seventh round. He never played any snaps for the Bengals, though. Pressley didn't carry the ball at all in 2012 and the Bengals ran the ball out of a single back formation without a fullback almost three times as much as they did with the fullback on the field, so the likelihood that they're in the serious market for a fullback isn't very high.
