Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson could receive some attention for one of the four head coaching vacancies that's opened up.

There haven't been any connections established or confirmed interests reported.

With that being said, Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson could be mentioned in some circles as a head coaching candidate among the four teams with a vacancy... and more if Black Monday continues throughout the week. The San Francisco 49ers and Jim Harbaugh agreed to a mutual separation and the former Niners coach is headed to Michigan to reportedly become the next Wolverines head coach. The New York Jets and Chicago Bears fired their general managers and head coaches and Atlanta dumped Mike Smith -- but refused to call it a firing.

It's important for these teams to get a move on with their candidates list. Through the early hours of Black Monday, the San Francisco 49ers have already requested interviews with Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. The Atlanta Falcons and New York Jets are also showing interest in Quinn.

Could Jackson be a candidate as well?

Maybe. Assistant coaches on playoff teams with a bye week are allowed to interview this Sunday. Assistant coaches on wild card teams have to wait until next week, through the end of that Sunday.

Jackson's offense in Cincinnati finished 15th overall this season, led by a rushing offense that ranked sixth in the NFL. On the other hand, the passing offense has been an anemic 21st -- even with various injuries that have left a large impact.

On the other hand, Jackson went 8-8 as the Oakland Raiders head coach in 2011 and since his firing, the Raiders have gone 11-37 with Dennis Allen and Tony Sparano.

The New York Times, obviously covering the Woody Johnson press conference following the firing of Rex Ryan in New York, mention Jackson with a slew of assistant coaches.

"This is very, very critical right now," Johnson said Monday. "We’ve got to make some good decisions."

Among N.F.L. assistants, potential candidates could include the Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, the Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, the Arizona defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, the Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson; the Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin and the Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase. In the college ranks, Gus Malzahn of Auburn, Jim Mora of U.C.L.A. and Brian Kelly of Notre Dame could merit looks.

According to Peter King, the Jets want to address the vacant general manager position and are reportedly looking at...

Ravens assistant G.M. Eric DeCosta and Vikings assistant G.M. George Paton believed to be the early frontrunners. Former Buccaneers G.M. Mark Dominik also could get some consideration, along with Falcons assistant G.M. Scott Pioli.

NFL Insider Jason La Canfora with CBS Sports speculates that Jackson may generate "some interest", largely for his head coaching history and overall coaching history. The Washington Post highlights Jackson's name as a possible candidate.

Figure that Jackson's name can/will pop up from time to time until these vacancies are filled.

The Bengals lost their offensive and defensive coordinators last season when Jay Gruden took the head job in Washington and Mike Zimmer followed in Minnesota.

The Michigan Wolverines will pull Jim Harbaugh from the NFL, despite his success with the 49ers.

The San Francisco 49ers have already parted ways with head coach Jim Harbaugh, and he now has his next job on the college level.

Per Adam Schefter and Albert Breer, Harbaugh will be named the next head coach of the Michigan Wolverines following rampant speculation this would happen for the past month. Harbaugh was rumored to be out of San Francisco for most of 2014, and once the Michigan job came open, they made Harbaugh their No. 1 priority.

The Niners went 44-19-1 in their four years under Harbaugh, and 49-22-1 including the playoffs. The Niners missed the playoffs for the first time under Harbaugh by going 8-8 this season en route to a disappointing third-place finish in the NFC West.

If that's it for Harbaugh in the NFL, he finishes with three playoff trips in four years, one of which ended in a Super Bowl appearance and the other two ended in the NFC Championship game.

Though the Falcons were in the thick of the NFC South race until Week 17, the team was blown out 34-3 at home by the Carolina Panthers in a game that decided the division. There were reports that Smith needed at least one playoff win to save his job.

Smith led the Falcons to the playoffs four times during his seven-year career in Atlanta, including an NFC Championship appearance following a 13-3 regular-season in 2012. In fact, the Falcons posted just two losing seasons under Smith, but those came in the last two years, and he ends his time in Atlanta with a 66-46 record.

Prior to Sunday's game, ESPN reported the Falcons had hired search firm Korn Ferry to identify head-coaching candidates in the event the team made a coaching change.

Trestman went 13-19 over his first two seasons with no playoff appearances and a loaded offense with the likes of Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, Martellus Bennett and Matt Forte. Trestman never seemed to find any consistency with quarterback Jay Cutler, who Emergy signed to a seven-year extension worth $126 million with $54 million guaranteed.

This opening should be one of the more attractive destinations for potential head-coaching candidates, especially for someone with an offense mind. On the other hand, Chicago's defense needs help and may bode well for a defensive-minded coach.

After the Jets went through one of the most successful periods in franchise history, they've decided to fire Rex Ryan.

The Rex Ryan era in New York has finally come to an end. Following a four-win season that culminated with a win at Miami in Week 17, Ryan was fired by the Jets on Black Monday, according to multiple media reports.

Ryan's six-year run included a pair of AFC Championship appearances, a Super Bowl guarantee, constant quarterback changes and a lot of attention paid to one of the NFL's traditional bottom-feeders.

Hired to replace Eric Mangini in 2009, Ryan helped guide New York to the postseason. Despite being a wild card team, the Jets won a pair of road games and advanced to the AFC Championship, where they lost to Peyton Manning's Colts.

The following season saw New York finish with an 11-5 record and made the playoffs as a wild card. The Jets again went on the road and notched two wins before coming up short in the AFC Championship against the Steelers.

The Jets regressed in 2011, finishing 8-8 and missing the playoffs. That proved to be a sign of things to come. New York regressed even further in 2012, finishing 6-10.

In 2013, the Jets finished 8-8 and ended the season on a winning streak, but flamed out in 2014 as the team went on an eight-game losing streak after winning in Week 1. New York capped the season with a 37-24 win against Miami in Week 17, ending the year 4-12, but it wasn't enough to save Ryan's job.

Members of the 49ers staff expect Jim Harbaugh to accept a deal to become the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines.

The San Francisco 49ers are set to part ways with head coach Jim Harbaugh, and it looks as though he already has his next job lined up.

According to Jason Cole of the Bleacher Report, Harbaugh is set to become the next head coach of the Michigan Wolverines once the NFL regular season has concluded.

If that's it for Harbaugh in the NFL, he finishes with three playoff trips in four years, one of which ended in a Super Bowl appearance and the other two ended in the NFC Championship game.

Here is the report:

Two members of the San Francisco 49ers staff and a third NFL source said Saturday they expect 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh to accept a six-year, $48 million contract to become the head coach of the University of Michigan.

"That's what everybody on staff believes is going to happen this week," one of the sources said. "Jim has figured out that his style is best-suited for the college game. His shtick works better with young guys who are gone after three or four years."

Harbaugh entered the NFL in 2011 to take over a 6-10 franchise that had never finished better than 8-8 in its previous eight seasons, and immediately went 13-3 with a trip to the NFC Championship game his first season. He upped that to a Super Bowl berth in his second year before losing again in the conference title game last season to the eventual-champion Seattle Seahawks.

The Bears are floundering to one of their worst records of the past decade, and Marc Trestman could pay the price for it.

The Chicago Bears have been one of the NFL's most disappointing teams in 2014, and heads are going to roll once the offseason rolls around. Head coach Marc Trestman could be among those who gets a pink slip at season's end.

According to Dan Bernstein of WSCR in Chicago, Trestman will likely be fired at season's end after ownership met Monday night following the Bears' 31-15 loss to the Saints, which dropped Chicago to 5-9 and ensured a second straight non-winning season for Chicago.

Trestman is just 13-17 over his first two seasons with no playoff appearances, and it looks as though his days are numbered with just two regular-season games left. Expect to hear names like Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson as a potential candidate for the Bears, who are loaded on offense when Brandon Marshall is healthy to go with Alshon Jeffery and Matt Forte.

Now, if they could just get Jay Cutler playing more consistent, this could suddenly become one of the NFL's more dangerous offenses. Jackson has done a great job at directing efficient offenses while managing good, but not great quarterbacks.

Fox Sports mentioned Jackson as one of 16 possible head-coaching candidates this offseason. After being fired as the Raiders head coach after a disappointing finish in 2011, Marvin Lewis hired Jackson back (formerly the Bengals wide receivers coach from '04-06) to help coach the secondary and special teams. Following the retirement of Jim Anderson, Jackson took over as the team's running backs coach in 2013 before an eventual promotion as the team's offensive coordinator this January.
